2023 NZAWHG Awards

Lizzie Civil

What another great year. It was good to see you all at our end of year NZAWHG Meeting for 2023.

It has been amazing to see our in-person meeting attendance grow again after a rough 2-3 years for the Aviation Industry.

We would like to congratulate you all for a successful 2023. This year we decided to reward some Airports for their hard work and we are looking forward to carrying on this initiative each year.

Firstly, a big congratulations to Rotorua Regional Airport for being innovative and working towards implementing new program tools like the Robofalcon. Their hard work is reflected in the 3rd quarter CAA Incident Report with a strike rate of 0.00 per 10,000 movements. Well done!!

Secondly, we would like to acknowledge both Nelson and Dunedin for the most improved strike rates for 2023. Nelson had an improvement value of 1.79 strikes per 10,000 movements from 2022-2023 (5.32 in 2022 and 3.53 in 2023). Dunedin had an improvement value of 1.71 strikes per 10,000 movements from 2022-2023 (7.05 in 2022 and 5.33 in 2023). We release that strike rates are not always 100% reflective and accurate BUT we would still like to honor peoples efforts and this is the most accurate way we can do so.

Lastly, i would like to acknowledge Air NZ and their long standing involvement in the NZAWHG. They always ensure that someone attends our meetings and over the last few years Jimmy has been a massive part of our group. Showing up, participating and presenting. Thank you Jimmy!

Next year we will have some bigger and better prize categories so please put your thinking hats on and let us know your great ideas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. I’m excited to see how we can grow in 2024.
